Tarique Rahman Calls for Fair and Credible Elections in Bangladesh

Tarique Rahman, Bangladeshi politician and senior leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has emphasized the need for a fair and credible national election in Bangladesh, allowing people to choose their leaders for the next five years.

Speaking virtually at four separate workshops, he highlighted that the country’s issues cannot be resolved without an effective electoral system and accountable representatives. The events were organized by BNP’s district units in Kushtia, Magura, Chuadanga, and Meherpur to train party leaders and activists on the party’s 31-point state reform proposals.

Tarique Rahman stated, “We can only solve the people’s problems if power is given to those who are truly responsible and answerable to the public. Elected representatives, chosen through a proper election process, must be accountable to the people.”

He stressed that elections should be free, fair, and transparent, ensuring that citizens can vote peacefully without any obstacles.

The BNP leader also noted that discussions on state reforms, from policymakers to ordinary citizens, are a positive step. However, he pointed out that people ultimately want solutions to pressing issues such as employment, inflation, and challenges in the education, health, and agriculture sectors.
